Trip to the Wilderness of Ecuador

There's nothing better than to travel with friends and family. When you are traveling alone there is always a sense of insecurity. Everyone always worries about you. You worry about yourself. Together with your friends you just have a good time.

We took our trip to Peru. We had heard about the Amazon jungle where it stretches for miles and miles. It is a beautiful land full of adventure and we were to take our trip on June 26, 2006.

The plan was that we would leave home at 7:00 am, travel all day on the train to Manaus, to our hotel for dinner and a nightcap. Then take a bus to the jungle, take a boat back to the shore. We would be back in time to have a solid sleep. Sounds easy, but it is not. The train leaves at 80 mph. It takes about four hours to travel from Manaus to the jungle. You have to take a boat on the rain forest water to get from the jungle to the ocean. We went by boat. Then a bus to the entrance of the jungle. It is really hard to travel in the jungle by bus. You could walk through the jungle but it takes a lot longer. We took a motorbike. It took us about 2 hours to travel from the jungle entrance to the city of Merida, about four hours. Then we took another motorbike and took about 3 hours to get to Merida, the largest city in Costa Rica.

There are small bus services between Merida and the jungle. Sometimes it is very crowded, sometimes it is not. Merida is very close to the jungle and it is a four hour drive by motorbike.

On our journey in the jungle, we took plenty of water, a spray bottle, sunscreen, insect repellent, sunblock, sunglasses, comfy clothes and sunglasses, sunglasses, a towel, insect killers and a camera. A first aid kit is a must.

Before we got into the jungle, we got a good start. We made a water supply and built a fire to keep us warm when the sun started to fall. The train leaves the shore of the Caribbean Sea into a dense jungle. It is a dark jungle out there. The sun began to set. We decided to take off our clothes at the Merida airport and put on some sunscreen. We also put on some insect repellent and took our spray bottle with us to keep the bugs away while we took a boat to the entrance of the jungle.

The entrance of the jungle is really hard to get into. We decided to take the motorbike to the city of Merida. The motorbike had two seats. We took the left seat and rode to the Merida city. The traffic was very bad. One minute it is traffic. Next it is a sea of sirens. There is no traffic. We had to watch the sirens very closely. We watched the sirens for one to two minutes. Then we got going again. We rode all the way from Merida to the beach. When we arrived, we rented bikes at the beaches and took a ride down to the jungle. We did not take a motorbike ride that day. We had to walk up the mountain. It was very steep and rocky and the leaves were really long. We got off the beach at the top. We took some bug repellent, sunglasses, comfy clothes and sunglasses, spray bottle, sunglasses, comfy shoes and insect repellent out of the suitcase, as well as the first aid kit and the camera. We then climbed the rest of the way to the cabin. There were so many people that we had to go into a restaurant. We had to pay for it but it was worth it. The restaurant was packed. It was a buffet. We had to pay for each course. We had chicken wings and a salad. We really enjoyed that salad. We were full and there was no way we were being the only ones. We found a table and enjoyed each other's company. Then the food came and we just sat and ate it with our friends. Then the drinks came and we just enjoyed our drinks. It was a wonderful day. We could not believe that we were there. We were so very glad we were there. I will remember this day for the rest of my life. It was a day that I will never ever forget.
